Glossary
IEEE style
The numbered citation style of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, used in engineering and computing.
In IEEE style you cite sources with numbers in square brackets, like [1], in the order you first cite them. The reference list is numbered in the same order, not alphabetically.
As shown by Brown [4], [5], the effect holds at higher frequencies.
The number sits on the line (not raised) and inside the sentence’s punctuation. Once a source has a number, you reuse that number every time you cite it. Author names in the reference list start with initials (for example, A. B. Brown).
