How to cite a podcast episode in APA 7
Episode reference format
Host, A. A. (Host). (Year, Month Day). Episode title (No. X) [Audio podcast episode]. In Podcast Title. Production Company. URL
Okafor, T. (Host). (2025, January 8). Why we procrastinate (No. 42) [Audio podcast episode]. In Mind Matters Weekly. Northbridge Audio. https://www.example.com/mind-matters/42
- The author is the host, with (Host) after the name. Use (Hosts) for more than one. If you know the executive producers, they can be listed instead.
- The date is the day the episode was released.
- The episode title isn’t italicized. Add the episode number in parentheses if there is one.
- Then add [Audio podcast episode], or [Video podcast episode] for video.
- Write “In” and the podcast’s name in italics, then the production company or network.
- End with the URL. Leave it out if there isn’t one, for example when you listened in an app.
In-text citations
- Parenthetical: (Okafor, 2025)
- Narrative: Okafor (2025)
To quote the episode, add the time where the quote starts: (Okafor, 2025, 12:30).
Citing a whole podcast
Use the range of years it has run, and put the podcast title in italics:
Host, A. A. (Host). (Start year–present). Podcast Title [Audio podcast]. Production Company. URL
